When a bear poops in the woods....

I know that my last post was a bit obnoxious. 70 questions and answers about me??? Really! How vain?!?!?! But in my defense, there MIGHT be SOME fellow bloggers out there who don't know me. Now they do!.. Kinda. I do, however, want no one to feel obligated to fill out the questionnaire and post it on their site! But if you want to... please do. I like knowing random little things like how many U.S. states you've been to and such.

In other news... I love my husband. It's not that he did anything extra special for me today or surprised me with any early Valentines gift, because he didn't. I just love him. It's fun to say. Fun to know. Fun to share. Fun to hear. And fun to read.
Just fun!

This actually reminds me of a conversation I had with one of the Ranchers the other day. This bright and attention needy young man was helping me with stuff in my office when he just blurted out, "Mame, Who makes you fall in love with some one?" (Yes, they call me mame. It's REALLY weird when I'm only 26! I feel SO old between that and "Mrs. Deal")

I answered, "What do you mean, Who?"

"Does God make you fall in love with someone. Or does the devil?"

"Well... no one MAKES you fall in love with someone. Falling in love is a choice that you have. God gives us free will and we have to be good stewards of our decisions. Why, J___? Who are you in love with?"

We then went on to discuss this 'love is a choice' stuff. It was quite the revelation to him. And given his back ground and the loss of ANY parental figure in his life to turn to with this matter. I was honored that he chose to ask me. I did, however amaze myself with one of the analogies I gave. (By the by... when I say me or I in this story. I want you to know that this conversation was totally spirit lead. "I" had NOTHING to do with it!)

So this analogy I gave "J" was one of a bear pooping in the woods. Yes. You read that right. I first asked him what he did if he had to go to the bathroom. HE said that he just went. I asked, "You just go?! Right where you are without sitting or anything?" He looked at me kinda weird. (I imagine his face looked a little like the look on your face right about now.)

I went on to say that when a bear 'feels' like he has to poop, he just poops! There's no decision made. It's all just instinct. He has to go and then he does. But when WE have to poop, we have choices to make. Like whether it's the appropriate time to leave the class room. How BAD we have to poop. Which bathroom to poop in, and what actions to take in order to get to the pooper! On top of all that, we then have to remove some articles of clothing! (or partly anyway) So our pooping situation has instinct, but it's followed by choices. The same is with love... sorta. God gives us the instinct in who we want to fall in love with, but the ultimate choice to FALL in love has a multitude of OTHER CHOICES with it! And after you've fallen in love, you still chose.. everyday... to be in love withthat one person.

I think he got it. Actually, I know he did. I just wish I would have had more of a 'chaplain' answer. One with biblical truths and stories. But nope! There I was. Sitting in my office at the Chapel talking to a sophomore boy about bears and humans and their need to poop! Strangely... I think God was glorified in that conversation, and only He could do that!

Thank you Lord for orchestrating moments that make us laugh, but also bleed your divine love and purpose! Thanks for a good sense of humor too!

So let me know what you think! Is love like a bear pooping in the woods to you? What would YOu have said to "J"? I need/want to know because I work with these teens almost every day. The question is bound to come up again, and I would like a little bit more light shed on the subject. Without all the poop talk. Thanks!

Talk to ya'll later! ~KK~

If bear defecation was what connected with "J", then it was the perfect thing to say. Chaplainy-shmaplainy, if people 'get it' then what does it matter? Do you think "J" is about ot forget his poop conversation with "Mame" (that is totaly weird - how is is pronounced?)?

Hi, by the way, how's life in Texas (other than big, I know it's big-geez).

Just out of the curiosity, what was the trail you used to track me down? That stuff always interests me.

I'm glad to hear from you again, I got a chance to talk to your in-laws in November in Memphis at the church planting workshop here. It was fun to make the connection that they were the same Deals as my friend Kara Deal (you'll be happy that the connection came because of Rich Jandt).

It's too late and I'm too not-asleep.

Hey Kara!

Thanks for looking me and the fam up. I know I havent posted in a while, my teens have convinced me that I need to use "MYSPACE" for all my blogging stuff. That and I stink at keeping up with this writing thing.

It was cool to hear that you got married! Congrats. I'm really surprised that i wasnt asked to be your best man or man of honor, but I'm sure you knew I was really busy with stuff and didnt want to bother me.

It is really good to hear from you. i would love to corespond(sp?) with you. Please send me an e-mail address. That way not everybody gets to see all the private stuff I want to write to you! JK! :) I learned that abbreviation from my teens it means "just joking":)

So are we getting old or what. Or maybe everybody around me is getting younger I'm not sure which.

Love ya sis,
Take care in Texas. I have a few friends in Houston Texas, Dave & Julie Yasko (westbury c of c). Also I Have two sets of aunts and uncles that live there. Pat & Kara Barthalomew and Kate and Fred (I dont remember their last name) shame on me. Say hi to them for me when you see them. thanks!
