Vacation Bible School

Vaaaaaaaaaaacccccccaaaaaatttttttionnnnnnnnn BIBLE SCHOOL! (It is a song... I promise!)

So I sit here in my office going through all of this handy-dandy buy-a-package V.B.S. stuff and I am wondering what happened to the good old days? Maybe I was too young to even know what was going on... but it seems like all of the VBS's I went to were home-made. Or maybe that was just the VBS's I was a part of. Or maybe I am crazy and every VBS I was EVER a part of was bought in bulk. If so, this makes me sad. I know that the VBS that my youth group always did during the summer was at least cool enough to have original sets, puppets, drama's... so on and so forth.

This handy-dandy buy-a-package stuff is kinda ticking me off! I admit that, for the most part, its very helpful with curriculum, arts and crafts ideas, play time idea's and such. But they built the WHOLE VBS to lean on every part of the VBS. This makes it very hard to insert your own creativity. What happened to letting people go wild with their OWN creative instinct? Like the snacks... who wants to eat apples and cheese that makes a bunny face, at a fiesta... when they could have a fried flour tortilla with cinnamon and sugar? Now THAT is a fiesta! But no, the stupid bunny fits into the theme for the day (or something silly like that).

MY KIDS here at the ranch are going to have a true fiesta! We're fryn' up some tortilla's and shaken' up all sorts of cinnamon and sugar! We're doing our OWN crafts... none of that other silly "snap this together and try and find a place to color on it-tambourine" business. NOPE! Won't have it! Thanks for the idea's... but I refuse to pay your VBS factory company and extra elevendy-billion dollars just so the kids can sorta have a craft and sorta have a snack!

So... anyone want to help me figure out some home-made fiesta crafts?

(If your laughing now, that's fine. But seriously... I need some idea's, and the crafts that this VBS comes with are pretty weak. No. VERY weak. So start thinking Fiesta and let me know what comes to you!)


So, my Mommy and Daddy are coming in a little ove a week. We are very excited and looking forward to the visit. They will be here on Luke's birthday too! So, those of you who may have forgotten about my husband's 25th birthday... it's April 3rd. (Brett, I know YOU won't forget his even though he forgot yours!)

One more tid bit of information. Last week we had a major problem with fires here in the pan handel of Texas due to a MAJOR drought. Today it's snowing. Today's the first day of spring. Weirdo.
