First things first...

Leah wanted to see a picture of me prego, so here it is... enjoy! Big, eh?
Secondly, I went to the Doctor and there was not much good news. I will, however start with the good news.
Baby's heart beat is great! Baby's is growing like all baby's in their Mommie's tummies should at 33 weeks. My blood pressure is good.
Okay, now the scary stuff. I am 1 centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. Baby's head is at -2. This may all sound like a bunch of Doctor talk, but basically I should not be this far "along" in the labor process for only being 33 weeks. I was put on bed rest today and will stay on bed rest until Monday (with the exception of Sunday where I can delegate but NOT be on my feet or hands on with the kids). Monday Morning they will check me again and if I have progressed, then I am at risk for preterm labor. If I have not progressed... I am guessing(because she did not tell me what she would do if I haven't progressed) that I will either be on bed rest until week 37 (Dec.14th) or have very strict and/or limited work restrictions.
Needless to say I am a little anxious about all of this news. I can't stop thinking about what I haven't done in the baby's room, or about what still needs to be done at work, and all such business. But at least I will have some time to get thank you cards out for the kind and awesome ladies that gave me a shower this past weekend! That was fun times in the neighborhood! I'll post pictures of that another time!
Later!

Is this the picture you and Mom took with the pillow under your shirt too?! I don't feel like my tummy is that big but I haven't taken a picture recently so it might be! You look great though! Praying for you and sweet baby!
Love you!

Yay for the good news about Baby's health and general heartiness.

As for the other stuff: ick!
That's pretty lame. I had some complications (pre-eclampsia which led to induction about 2 weeks early) during the last few weeks of my pregnancy, so I feel ya, Babe. I hope a few days of rest will do the trick, but if not, bedrest isn't the worst thing ever. Granted, I only had a few days of it, but I know others who had it longer. Yes, it can be lonely and boring, but if you have a positive attitude about it, you'll be able to have lots of time for prayer and meditation and Bible reading. AND still have time to enjoy some trashy daytime TV and catch up on your People magazine and Harlequin novel reading! =) And your Christmas-carding! And your phone-talking, and your online shopping! Who needs to go to the mall at Christmas? That's for amatures! Amazon will even do the wrapping and shipping for you! (Does this sound like someone who was too pregnant to shop at the mall last year?)

Don't let yourself worry about work--the people you work with and for are more concerned about your health and your baby's health than about any of the projects you're stressed about finishing. And as for the nursery, first of all, Luke's a capable man, and you'll have tons of time to write extensive to-do lists. Besides, Baby won't even be able to tell if the nursery is finished or not. For the first several weeks, all (s)he will need are some clean pajamas and receiving blankets, diapers and wipes, someone to feed him/her, and some loving arms to snuggle in. I'm guessing most of those are already covered (especially the last one). So what is there to worry about? Nothing, Babe. You're covered. All you have to do is do what the good doctor says and wait for your precious son or daughter to come meet you--the rest will work itself out. Sounds like you'll be getting one heck of a Christmas gift! I'm so excited for you I can hardly type! If we lived in the same town I would have thrown you the coolest baby shower!

I love you and I'll be praying for the very best possible news and health and attitude and anything else good that I can think of.

Hey Kara - you look great! I really hope we get to visit with you sometime next month. As far as the baby coming early...I wouldn't bet on it, at least it didn't happen for me. At 34 or 35 weeks I was dilated 4 cm with a soft cervix and baby's head engaged, and they told me the baby would come before 2 weeks...and then it was another 4 weeks before I actually had her. They told me to take is easy during that time, so I quit going to the gym, but how easy can you take it when you have a 1.5 year old to chase around (and we were moving to a new apartment too)! Anyway, all that to say that there is hope nothing will change and you won't have to be on bed rest. I hope the doc has good news for you at your next appointment. Keep us posted!
