UPDATE and a plee for help!

First, thanks for all the comments. It's great to know that other's are praying for us and are excited too! And thanks for those of you who put your 2 cents in on whether or not we should find out the sex of the baby. It's helped us come to a decision. What that is, you'll have to wait and find out! :)

So, the baby is great! Luke and I have been to three different sono's because they were never really sure how far along I was AND because TWO eggs had been fertilized people! That's right... for about two weeks I was considered a twin pregnancy. But now, the latest sono showed only one heart beat. the other gestational sack was still there, but is not developing. A little sad, but they say that it is actually fairly normal. They call it the vanishing twin syndrome. I know a lot of people in my family were excited about the possibility, but I think that God's plan is in full effect now, and maybe next time we'll get a two for one deal (no pun intended).

But morning sickness has moved in. Now, I know that many people have it worse than me considering I have only puked one time. But it is still no fun feeling like I am going to puke all day long. And nothing sounds good to eat, and when I do eat, nothing tastes very good. My diet consisted of saltine crackers and chicken noodle soup for quite a few days. I'd be okay if I never saw a saltine again! And smells! Just a whiff of my dog makes me run to the bathroom in fear of puking everywhere... but I never do.

So please, won't you share with me some insight on this morning sickness stuff?! I am willing to try anything!

You may not know me, but just ask Leah who I am... Melanie Hoimyr ( we moved to Dauphin two weeks after the Deals did). I had morning sickness with all three of our kids... NO Fun. I found the blah food worked the best. Eating cream of wheat porridge, saltine crackers, cheez whiz ( since I couldn't drink milk,,, altho I'm sure cheez whiz had no milk in it!! ha) I ate lots of sunflower seeds. Take care, sleep lots. One elderly lady told me that if we have morning sickness we'll have an easy delivery (and she was right).

Beckie had it for the first two months of her pregnancy. It was just the little things that would set her off. A smell of something in a supermarket or even shampoo. I do know that she absolutely detested the smell of bacon but now (after Chloe was born) she feels fine about it.

Hope all is well and that your morning sickness will go away soon!!

Ewwww! Bacon smell was the worst! And I usually love it.

I've heard that ginger helps, and also peppermint candies. Motherhood Maternity sells some stuff at their counter that some friends of mine swear by. I found that I was usually fine if my stomach was neither too full nor too empty.

I feel for you. I was so sick for about 3 months- I threw up about 10 times a day. I tried a bunch of stuff- but unfortunately for me-nothing worked. These are some suggestions that I tried
1. Ginger- ginger ale, ginger snaps, ginger candy
2. Eat more often throughout the day- small meals- keep your stomach full- it is the extra acid in your stomach that is making you sick
3. Peppermint- tea, candy, gum
4. Eat even before you get out of bed in the morning- dry toast or crackers- give these about 20 minutes to get into your system
5. Drink lots of liquids
6. Make sure you get lots of rest.
Hope some of these help you.
Congrats on the baby- they are such a blessing.

I say eat only what sounds good...never try something that you don't feel like you are going to like at that moment...becuase you won't. Second...don't fight the puke...let it come...because I found that if I just got the puking over with I could go eat and enjoy my meal. But that was me. I think it's different for everyone. In the meantime, I hope the sickness passes quickly.
